Zarafa Camp
Zarafa means “the beloved one” in Arabic and comes from a giraffe that was presented to Charles X of France in 1826 by the Viceroy of Egypt. Today Zarafa is an exquisite camp located in the private Selinda Reserve and is Botswana’s first Relais & Chateaux property.
Only recycled hardwoods and canvas were used in the construction and all the camp’s electricity comes from a solar farm and a bio-gas system converts vegetable waste into usable cooking gas. Zarafa maintains the perfect balance between luxury, romance and adventure with no equal when it comes to environmental credentials.
Zarafa has four huge tents all set on raised decking under flowing canvas. Each lavish bedroom is connected to a full lounge and open layout bathroom complete with copper claw-foot bath.
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon / evening 4 x 4 game drives, guided nature walks and cruises on the Zibadiaja Lagoon on “HMS Zib” when water levels permit. The camp has an open air gym and offers in-room massages.
